Pastor Bomey will be writing semi-regular blog posts here as he shares his thoughts with us regarding a variety of topics.

Want to stay up-to-date with Pastor's blog without having to check back often? We provide a full RSS feed via the sidebar on the right side of the page. RSS is a protocol to allow readers such as yourself to easily receive notification when a site or blog posts updated content. A normal RSS feed is used by a program or service (called an "aggregator") to deliver notifications to the reader. One popular web-based aggregator is Google Reader . However, if you'd simply like to receive emails when this blog is updated, a service called FeedBurner will let you do just that.  Type your email address in the box to the right, click "Subscribe", and Feed Burner will do all the work for you!

A Course Correction
Monday, 07 July 2008

It sometimes happens while ships are sailing across vast oceans that they need to make a course correction in order to successfully arrive at their intended destination.  Depending on the distance to be travelled, if the ship is off by even just a few compass degrees it will miss its port by hundreds of miles.  After reading an article in the online version of an Associated Press article in the June 23, 2008 Lansing State Journal about a survey of people's religious views, I think a course correction is drastically needed if people are going to successfully arrive at their intended destination -- Heaven!

What to Do When You Get a Computer Virus
Tuesday, 10 June 2008

As a pastor and preacher for nearly 19 years now, I have read the Bible through a few times as you can imagine. While I can't exactly quote you a chapter and verse on it, I'm fairly certain that there is a special place in hell reserved for those who create and deliberately spread computer viruses. Few if any of us have been immune to this mechanical disease and the intense pain and discomfort that accompany it.

Memorial Day, Chronic Pain, And Prayer
Thursday, 29 May 2008

Memorial Day has now come and gone for another year. It's a time for remembering those who served and especially died for their country and our people. My Dad, sister, and brother-in-law were some of those. Thank you...more than words can say.

Many families probably endured some measure of pain this holiday for the memory of their lost loved ones, and perhaps even the physical pain of their own injuries sustained while serving their country. For them the pain may be chronic...pain that never lets up. Because of the scourging, crown of thorns, nails, and spear in His side, Jesus was well acquainted with physical pain. He even grieved over people He loved too because they would not recognize and accept the salvation that he alone could give them.

Create-a-Mom
Tuesday, 06 May 2008

Next Sunday is Mother's Day and we here at Saline First Assembly of God intend to do the right thing - honor these awesome, hard working, sacrificial creatures. You can help me do it too.

My plan is to preach a rolling sermon. In it the congregation and I together will create a Mom out of suggestions generated by the audience of the greatest qualities they saw and experienced in their own mothers. In that way, they get to honor their mom by publicly professing something special about her. And, then as the picture grows larger, it will also suggest ways in which every mom can grow and become even better at this special "job" than they already are.

Questions for God
Wednesday, 23 April 2008

Greetings world! This is the first in what I hope will be a long and meaningful relationship with everyone who takes a moment of their valuable time to read this new blog.

This new technology is fascinating! The atmosphere we live in is comprised of such sections as the stratosphere, the troposphere, even the ionosphere (all sections of the sky on out to outer space). But now comes the blogosphere. The blogosphere is more a matter of inner space. My inner thoughts extended out to all of you. My hope, however, is that by launching this blog it will bless, inspire, and most especially spur the reader on to think. Then, I invite you to respond by posting your own comments here.

That way we can enter into a genuine conversation and avoid what so many church settings have become - a one way stream of information, but not as much communication. I'm proposing a dialogue between this writer and all readers. Together in this blog we can pursue truth on any matter that's under discussion. I invite you on a journey filled with thoughts, facts, opinions, impressions, observations, quotations, inspirations, and maybe even a little humor along the way.  I believe we'll find truth along the way and that it will inevitably be found in some way shape or form in Jesus Christ.
