Love is a Verb
Sunday, 10 February 2008

Pastor Bomey talks about God's love.  No matter who it is, God loves that person even if we don't like them, they are atheist, or even if they are Ohio State fans.  Pastor talks about the Greek levels of love: eros, philia, and agape. God loves us no matter what we do;  His love is unconditional.  We discuss how love is an action, and is defined for us in 1 Corinthians 13.  Agape (unconditional) love has nothing to do with our feelings on the matter.  Love is a choice.

Because You Say

Luke 5:1-6

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God, he saw at the water's edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch."

Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets."

When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were written in Hebrew and Aramaic. They are some of the oldest documents we have and they confirm the validity of the scriptures. The Bible was recorded by several men of all walks of life over hundreds of years. It all comes together as the inspired Word of God. We encourage you to meet the author.

Who are we that God should want to spend time with us?

Have you read the whole Bible? It is a mistake to assume we can decide what parts we should not read.

Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.

Invitation to participate in 40 Days of Prayer-- Joe Sazyc

1 Thessalonians 5:12

Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.

Churches that honor their pastors are the most blessed.

Feb. 20, 21,22 we are participating as a church in 24 hours of prayer as our part of the 40 days of prayer

Hope for the Future From the Past--Pastor Bomey

In Matthew 1 we have the genealogy of Jesus Christ.

There were some dishonorable characters there.

David murdered the first husband of Solomon's mother.

Rehab was a harlot.

Ruth was a foreigner.

Manasseh offered some of his own children as sacrifices.

Jesus was no less of a savior despite the negative details of his past

Genesis 3:15  is called the proto -evangelian. It is a first look at the evangelistic message of God's grace for salvation.

There is plenty of news to hear on the TV. Most of it is hard to swallow, and some very discouraging. Gas is expected to be $4.00 per gallon by the end of the year. What will the world be like when our children are middle aged?

Matthew 10:22 Those who keep their faith to the end will endure.
God Keeps His promises.
