Grace

Acts 20:24 — But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.

Grace is the free of charge, undeserved, unearned kindness of God.

In the middle east a persons wrong behavior may be caught and punished by cutting off of their hand or worse.

In the days of Jesus' ministry, many who knew they were guilty unworthy sought him out for his love and grace.

At an AG leader meeting, a guest speaker invited a Chicago prostitute to church. She replied, why would I want to go to church, I would only come away feeling worse about myself than I already do.

The grace of Jesus was poured out.

Rom. 5:20 — The Law was given so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more,

Remember the thieves on their crosses next to Jesus.

The only promise of grace that we can rest our lives on, is the grace of Jesus Christ.

Follow that example and extend a little more grace and mercy to our neighbors.

John 15:13

Act of kindness cards handed out (assorted tasks).

I Want to Declare God Loves You

If I were introducing myself in Africa, I would tell them I am Dave Thompson, a christian and the husband of one wife.

Matt 28: 19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Acts 1:4, 8

Matt 9:9

Jesus called people "Be my disciple" and he is still calling us today. He wants us and has a job for us in His kingdom.

When, I was encouraging my church to share the gospel and introduce others to Christ, I had to rethink my own schedule, because I could not remember the last time I had lead someone to Jesus. I had been spending all my time with christians in the church. That is when I became active in the republican party. There were plenty of sinners there to share with.

In Kenya we have been praying for a tribe out in the country. We did not know anything about them, so they went to visit and ask if there was anything specific they needed? The leader of the tribe said, Yes, a water pump because our last pump broke and the crocodile eats someone every month.

David Livingston donated property for a cemetery, but the people in the neighborhood began building houses on the property. They needed a fence around the property and the church raised money for the fence and a church building.

Billy Anderson was a missionary for 28 years in a village that was very serious about ancestors. Billy visited the chief to say he was leaving their town to retire. The Chief said I know you love us but you are the only christian here and we are all Christian. Why are you here. Billy read him Matthew chapter 1 about the ancestry of Jesus. Billy told the Chief God wanted them to be a member of God's family. The chief and council decided if the lineage of Jesus was really true, they would all learn to be in God's family. Now they knew who was the father of Jesus, but they did not know who was Muhammed's father. The Muslim imam of their village can be a Christian too or he can go somewhere else.

See atheist entertainer's testimony on Youtube saying if Christian's really believe that non-believers are going to hell, they would tell them unless they really hate the unbelievers.

Practice your testimony so that you can give it in one minute.

Ask someone what is the best thing that ever happened to you in your whole life.

Then ask if you can take a minute that every happened to me?

Aug 15, 1957 Dave Thompson asked Jesus to be his savior so that he does not end up in hell.

Typically people need to here the gospel seven times before they are ready to make a decision for trusting in jesus. You could be the first time they hear, you could be the one with them when they are ready.

When I go through customs and they ask if I have anything to declare, I tell them yes, I want to declare that God loves you and he has a wonderful plan for your life.

The Reckless Ones

Reckless:
Do not aim for the kind that is careless, but rather the kind that is willing to set aside all reliance on your strength and ability, to put your trust in God and the power of His Holy Spirit, with obedience to His Word.

Acts 17:6— When they did not find them, they began dragging Jason and some brethren before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have upset the world have come here also;

Many in the time of Jesus and his disciples did not want their ways and world upset by the kingdom of God.
Is there enough Jesus in me to turn my world upside down? How did they get the power?

See Acts 13: 1-3
In the church that was in Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they worshipped the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

Do we expect God to come, get our attention, and move on our behalf without being willing to humble ourselves, turn away from any wickedness and seek His face.

Remember the story of Dwight L. Moody.
As he was walking the streets of Chicago, Moody, heard a preacher say, the world has yet to know a man who is totally surrendered to God. Moody decided then that by God's grace, he would be that man.

In a world of compromise, dare to have some absolutes and some boundaries.
Dan. 1:8 But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself.

When we compromise to protect our things, we will be tested again with the loss of those things.

In a world of shallow relationships, dare to verbalize emotion and encouragement. Love people enough to pray for them.

In a world of spiritual wipe outs, get back up again.

Do not gloat over my defeats.

The British needed to retreat from the Germans on the french coast. All boats were called to help evacuate the soldiers. A ship was hit by a bomb and the chaplain on the ship sacrificed his life to encourage his fellow soldiers and lead them in singing hymns.

Perspicuity

This morning, Pastor Bomey brings us the follow-up to the message from two weeks ago. We continue to discuss the Bible, and Pastor argues against what he hears as the two most common reasons for not reading the Bible: "it's too hard" and "it's not true for me".
