To Be Content

Paul writing from a prison cell said: I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. —Phil 4:11

Millions of Americans are accumulators.
A study by UCLA anthropologist found a home of 1,000 sq. ft. home has 2,260 items out in the open.
39 pairs of shoe, 90 dvds, 212 cds, etc with books and magazines.
3 of 4 homes had so much stuff in homes there was no room there for cars.

$37,000 annual income would put you in the top 97% earning category for the world.

Almost all of our problems are rich person problems, such as a community ban on lawn watering.

How can we become modern day representatives of the Apostle Paul’s attitude on contentment?
Grow our sense of God’s love toward us. If we understand His love for us, we have confidence in his provision for us.
People will not wander into our church meeting unless they are invited. God has accepted us just the way we are. Whoever believes in him will not perish.
Personal prayer and bible reading will help us understand God’s love for us.

God Shall Supply All Your Needs

Hebrews 12: 1-2
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside
every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race
that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy
that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand
of the throne of God.

Ed Stetson from Wheaton college tweeted: “think the world has gone mad.”
There is a staggering overreaction to the political situation, a reaction bordering on hysteria.
Remember, God is in control and he will continue in that role.

My God shall supply all your needs according to his riches and glory

Romans 8:28 God will work all things together
(Gen. 1:1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
(2 Timothy 2:2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy
that was set before him endured the cross.
Heb. 1 Fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge
(II Corinthians 4:18) While we look not at the things which are seen,
but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [are] temporal; but the things
which are not seen [are] eternal.

Donald Trump will not be your creator, savior or your destroyer. Those positions are already filled.

Sure the issues are real and important and they matter. Remember however, that we are just passing through this world. Hebrews 11
As citizens of that country, we are called to glorify God.
If you can do something to the Glory of God, by all means do it. Be conformed to the Word of God.

The second greatest commandment:
Love your neighbor as yourself.

We are called to submit to and pray for those in authority.
Our anointing as citizens of the world to come is: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.  Gal 5:22-23

Always be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in you.

Fighting for Family

Rely on the Word of God
We lead by our strengths and communicate by our weaknesses

We have our family members to fight for.
After the Lord saved me, I was deeply concerned about family members who were unwittingly walking the green mile to eternal death.

Ex. 12: 1-8, 11-13
Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying: 2 This month shall be the beginning of months to you. It shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: On the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for a household. 4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to what each man shall eat, divide the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats. 6 You shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month, and then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. 7 They shall take some of the blood and put it on the two side posts and on the upper doorpost of the houses in which they shall eat it. 8 They shall eat the flesh on that night, roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast, and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the Lord. 13 The blood shall be to you for a sign on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt.

Moses did not deliver the people from Egypt, God did that.

Number your days (i.e. give purpose to your days) Set times in your days to love your family members.
Ask yourself, how often do you make that family connection.

Live a set apart life, seeking to live like Jesus, knowing that we are forgiven for our failures.

In December of 1825, a man was sentenced to death for treason. The rope broke when he was to be hanged, and he replied sarcastically that Russia can not even kill a man. He would have been set free according to the Russian law, but as a response to his sarcasm, they gave the noose another chance to work.
Think about your response to the grace of God in your life.

The Reality of Heaven

There was a plane at the gateway where people were exiting to the greeting of their friends.
The missionary arriving was not met by anyone and he prayed about that. God told him, it is because you are not home yet.

Today I tell you, Truly you will be with me in paradise
In my house there will be many mansions.
Jesus is coming to take us to be with him.
The true place of heaven in the long run is, not going to be in the heavenliness, it will be brought here on earth.

2 Peter 3:12-13
looking for and longing for the
coming of the Day of YAHWEH3,
2 Just as YHWH created the world in 6 days
and rested on the 7th, YHWH has given
mankind 6,000 years to make his own
government, education, religion and society,
and at the end of the 6,000 yrs Yahshua will
return to earth to set up the Kingdom of
Yahweh for the 1,000 yr millennial rule
completing YHWH's 7,000 year plan. (Psa.
90:4) Then the new heaven and earth will
be established and His Kingdom forever.
(Rev 21:1-4)
3 The day of YHWH is not a particular day of
the week but the time period of His wrath
on mankind for his continued sin and
through which the heavens having
been set afire will be dissolved; and
burning, the elements will melt?
13 But according to His promise, we
look for "New heavens and a new
earth," in which righteousness dwells.
(Isa. 65:17)

Revelation 21:1-5
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new
earth, for the first heaven and the first
earth passed away, and the sea no
longer is.
2 And I, John, saw the holy city, New
Jerusalem, coming down out of
Heaven from YAHWEH, having been
prepared as a bride, having been
adorned for her Husband.5
3 And I heard a great voice out of
Heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle
of YAHWEH is with men! And He will
tabernacle with them, and they will be
His people, and YAHWEH Himself will
be with them as their Elohim.6
4 And YAHWEH will wipe away
every tear from their eyes. And death
shall be no longer, nor mourning, nor
wailing, nor will there be pain any
more; for the former things have
passed away1. (1 Cor 15:54-57)
5 And the One sitting on the throne
said, Behold! I make all things new.
And He says to me, Write, because
these Words are faithful and true.
6 And He said to me, It is done! I am
the Aleph and the Tav, the Beginning
and the Ending. To the one thirsting, I
will freely give of the fountain of the
Water

In his presence, there will be fullness of joy

Rom. 8:22 — We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time.

Hell

Hell is Real and Forever Torment.

Rev. 21: 1-3 — Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”a for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

When you know the world was created by your Father in heaven, you know He has a purpose for you.
Jesus was born as a king in the line of David and also the line of Rehab the harlot.
He came the first time to suffer and die for us.
The second time He comes will be different. He will come as a conquering king. He will wage war and rule over all. All will bow their knee and confess that He is Lord.

Tonight we will talk about hell.
If you are preaching all of the gospel, hell is on the list of subjects to include.
We refer to hell when painting a picture of terrible circumstances including war, but none of the sufferings on this earth add up to the extreme torment of hell.
People have tended to trivialize the severity of hell.
Even large church pastor Rob Bell has argued that hell is not real.

People say hell is a just symbol for being separated from God. That is no threat to the unbelievers.
Revelation 14:11 shows us that hell will be full of the wrath of God:
And the smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever. Day and night there will be no rest for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name."

John 3:16-18 — For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Hell is terrible, but it is not cruel or unjust—no innocent person will suffer at God’s hand.
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Yahweh God.

The same word used for eternal in the phrase eternal life is also used in Rev. 14:11 for eternal torment.

How far is it to hell? For some it is just a couple miles down the road when they die in a car wreck.
