Temptation Is Not Sin

Someone once said that they can resist every evil except temptation.

The life of Joseph was turned upside down when his brothers sold him into slavery.
He was like a country boy taken to the big city. Potiphar, who purchased Joseph, was the captain of the guard, but Joseph was not discouraged because the Lord was with Joseph.
Gen. 39
The Lord is with you also.
Blessed is the man who shall not walk in the counsel of the wrong, And shall not stand in the path of sinners, And shall not sit in the seat of scoffers, But his delight is in the Torah of יהוה, And he meditates in His Torah day and night. For he shall be as a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That yields its fruit in its season, And whose leaf does not wither, And whatever he does prospers.—Psalm 1
Things were going well for Joseph. Sometimes when things go well, we become more vulnerable to wonder away from our dependence on God.
Potiphars wife was attracted to Joseph, and he refused. “Who could I do such a wicked thing? It would be such a great sin against God.
And after these events it came to be that his master’s wife lifted up her eyes to Yosĕph and said, “Lie with me.” But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has given into my hand all that he has. “No one is greater in this house than I, and he has not withheld whatever from me but you, because you are his wife. And how shall I do this great evil and sin against Elohim?”—Genesis 39:7-9
Joseph tore himself away and ran from the house.
Genesis 39:12
That is how we respond to sin. Run away. Put distance between you and sin.
Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee.
Do whatever it takes to resist and flee temptation.

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.  —James 1:12

Temptation is not sin, choosing to follow it is. Temptation is a call to battle and it could be a clue that you are moving in the right direction.

Joseph know the consequences of sin would be severe. God’s standard are forever regardless of the cultural morays of our time.

All sin is ultimately against God. Jesus was tempted in every way, but without sin.
There is no temptation but that which is common to all of us. You must find a way to escape.
We serve a thrice holy God as Isaiah quoted from the heavenly beings visiting the throne of God.
He will hold us accountable even for every idle word.
Let your love for God be your greatest deterrent  against temptation.

In the book of mysteries the student was asked if he could throw a forest of trees off to a distance away. If you do it when temptation is just a seed, you could throw a forest of sins away.
